The Simpsonsfamily has been inmourning. Deadline reported that Nancy MacKenzie died at the age of 81. She was best known in Latin America as the Marge Simpson. She was the voice of the character in Spanish for the first fifteen seasons. Patricia Acevedo revealed the news on Instagram.

Acevedo wrote: “With deep sorrow, Lisa and Bart, announce the death of Marge Simpson, our beloved mother, Nancy MacKenzie (Nancy MacKenzie).” Rest in peace. “You will never be forgot.” The message was accompanied by a slide show of MacKenzie and the Latin American cast of The Simpsons throughout the years. Also included were photos and videos Marge and Lisa.

MacKenzie was born in Lima, Peru. She became a well-known voice actress in Mexico. She has also voiced characters in Muppet Babies and Muppets Tonight. MacKenzie dubbed many actresses including Bette midler and Diane Keaton. A major cast change occurred on The Simpsons ahead of Season 16, due to a dispute between Futura Doblaje y Regrabaciones, and the majority of its actors who worked under the National Actors Association. Marina Huerta was the new Marge’s voice through Season 31, as Fox fired the majority of the cast because the dispute wasn’t resolved before the dubbing. Claudia Motta dubs Marge for Latin America’s 36th season. She has done so since Season 32. Marge is the only character MacKenzie has dubbed. Humberto Velez also paid tribute to Homer Simpson’s Latin American on-screen spouse on Insta.
