The storyline and production details of Sister Act 3 were kept secret, but according to Tanya Trotter the sequel script is finished. Trotter was one half of The War and Treaty and starred in Sister Act 2 : Back in The Habit in 1994. She reunited recently with her co-stars for a surprise tribute on The View to honor the film’s 30th anniversary. Trotter recently told that she couldn’t confirm whether or not she was a part. However, the script had been completed.

She answered quickly and easily when asked if she was open to returning. She said, “I would be open to anything that Whoopi goldberg was a part — because she is a legend, an icon, my mentor and hero. I’d say yes.”

Trotter performed “His Eye is on the Sparrow“, along with Lauryn in the film. She performed “Joyful, Joyful” in Hill’s absence at the The View Reunion. Later, she revealed that without Goldberg’s involvement in the scene with Hill, the famous moment would not have been possible. Goldberg gave an update on  in May, saying: “I can say it’s coming.” Goldberg said, “It’s coming” in an interview in May with us. She knows that fans want more. “It will come around the mountain. Soon, it’ll be here. I’m excited. It’s the right time, you know. We need to laugh. Shee continued, saying, “I’m not sure what we’re doing, but I’m going to need to laugh a lot…I think I’m great when I make others laugh too.” Tyler Perry produces the film.
