Kendrick lamar released his long-awaited “Not Like Us” video after filming the song in Compton, and performing it six times back-to-back at “The Pop Out,” his concert held last month. The biggest hit of the beef between Kendrick and Drake.
Lamar hits an owl-pinata, a nod to Drake’s OVO owl. A disclaimer is displayed at the bottom, reading “No OVHoes have been harmed in the making of this clip.” Lamar drives a car on the street with Mustard, the song’s creator, riding shotgun.
The video shows Lamar’s fiancée Whitney Alford, along with their two children, dancing in a living-room. Alford became a talking-point in Drake’s “Family Matters” diss song, where he claimed that Lamar’s longtime friend and associate Dave Free conceived one of Lamar’s children with Alford.
The video for “Not Like Us”, as you can imagine, is a sort of victory lap for Lamar. He was arguably the winner in the beef with Drake that erupted earlier this year. The song “Not Like Us”, which was the result of the battle between Drake and Lamar, became the most popular, reaching the No. The song reached No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100, and was a Song of Summer candidate.
Lamar performed the song at least six times during his “The Pop Out“, a concert in Los Angeles that took place on 19th June. He brought out a group of musicians to represent his hometown for the event. This included Dr. Dre and YG as well as Tyler the Creator, Schoolboy Q, and others.
