After a tenant raised the alarm, the actor from Makiling and Baes was found dead in his apartment. Castaneda was not there when the tenant tried to pay for his rent. Castaneda was contacted by his sibling and the shocking discovery was made.

According to the report, “congenital heart disease is the cause of death. Chronic kidney disease and high blood pressure are also contributing factors.” The ABS-CBN News reports that he died on 30 June; Pilipino Star Ngayon states that he was deceased for three days before he found.

“We were 8 years old when we first met. Between the last years of grade-school and high-school, we missed several years. We made a big fuss about finding each other at the De la Salle College canteen,” Reyes wrote. “We were inseparable from that moment on, and we remained so throughout our college years… until both of us found our way into the crazy world of showbiz.

“We’ve been friends for 61 years…and how have you left? Sincerely, I don’t know what it will be like without my bestie just waiting to squabble with me. We had our disagreements, our differences of opinion and our political views but we always stood by each other.

He continued, “I didn’t tell you this when you were here because I knew that you would cringe and tell to shut up. But you are a huge part of my life as you are my irreplaceable best friend. I will miss you terribly.”

The Sana’y Wala Naka actress will be cremated at Sanctuarium Crematory, Quezon City in the Philippines.
