“Rick and Morty: The Anime” is set to premiere on Thursday, Aug. 15 at midnight on Adult Swim, marking a significant divergence from its original series. The spinoff has just unveiled its inaugural trailer, offering fans a glimpse into its unique anime-style universe, distinct from both the mainline “Rick and Morty” and its previous anime-inspired short films.

The trailer introduces a fresh art style and new voices for familiar characters, with Joe Daniels voicing Rick, Gabriel Regojo as Morty, Donna Bella Litton as Summer, Joe Daniels also as Jerry, and Patricia Duran as Beth in the English-language version. Meanwhile, the Japanese-language version features Youhei Tadano, Keisuke Chiba, Akiha Matsui, Manabu Muraji, and Takako Fuji.

Adult Swim has scheduled the English-language premiere for Thursday night, followed by the Japanese-language version with English subtitles on Saturday, Aug. 17 at midnight. A notable feature of the spinoff is its direct-to-streaming release model, with availability on Max the day after its broadcast and options to purchase on PVOD platforms.

Unlike the standalone short films like “Samurai & Shogun,” which won’t be integrated into its continuity, “Rick and Morty: The Anime” will consist of ten-minute episodes across a ten-episode season. The series promises a blend of humor and adventure, with plots such as Rick’s existential escapades between multiverses, Summer aiding Space Beth against the Galactic Federation, and Morty encountering a love interest who defies temporal boundaries.
