The first glimpse of Timothee Chalamet as Bob Dylan in the upcoming movie A Complete Unknown, which will be released this December, was revealed to viewers. Is that Chalamet’s voice in the teaser?
James Mangold, director and screenwriter of A complete Unknown ( Indiana Jones Dial of Destiny), wrote the screenplay along with Jay Cocks. The book “Dylan Goes Electric!” was written in 2015 by Elijah Wald.
The film takes place in New York during the early 1960s. It follows the meteoric rise of Bob Dylan, a 19-year-old Minnesotan musician. His songs and mystique became a worldwide phenomenon.
This star-studded ensemble also includes Monica Barbaro, who plays Dylan’s former lover and collaborator Joan Baez; Elle Fanning, as Sylvie Russell, another artist with whom Dylan dated in the early 1960s; Boyd Holbrook, as Johnny Cash and Scoot Mcnairy, as Woody Guthrie.
The first teaser was released on 24 July. In it, the Wonka actor sings “A Hard Rain’s A Gonna Fall”, from Dylan’s 1963 album The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan. Is that the voice of the 28-year old actor?
It’s Timothee Chalamet in the teaser for A Complete Unknown. He will provide his own vocals in the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic that will hit theaters this December.
Chalamet took guitar and singing lessons in order to play the part. Chalamet’s singing skills have been showcased in films before. He sang seven musical numbers in the 2023 film musical Willy Wonka . He contributed songs such as “You Never Had Chocolate Like This,” A World of Your Own,” Sorry, Noodle,” and Pure Imagination to the original motion film soundtrack.
The actor attended Manhattan’s Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. He also sang for the 2019 production A rainy day in New York. A clip of the rising star singing “Sweet Charity”, in a LaGuardia play, was even released. Chalamet’s musical background and past projects will likely lead to more musical roles in the future.
