She was the star of Beverly Hills 1990210, and Charmed,. She was 53. Leslie Sloane, Doherty’s publicist, told People the actress passed away on Saturday July 13th. Sloane stated: “I confirm with a heavy-hearted that actress Shannen doherty has passed away. She lost her fight with cancer on Saturday, July 13 after years of fighting it.”

The family asks for privacy at this time so they can grieve in peacen” Sloane continued. Sloane continued, “The family requests privacy during this time to allow them to grieve in peace.” Doherty had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, but was in remission by 2017. Doherty announced in February 2020 that the cancer had returned. She was at the fourth stage at the time. Doherty announced in June 2023 that the cancer had spread to her brain.

Jason Priestley , Doherty’s 90210 fellow-star, gave an emotional update about Doherty’s health in September 2020. Priestley told Studio 10’s Angela Bishop that the last time he heard from Doherty, she was in good spirits. Priestley confirmed that he checks in on his Doherty at least every two days. “Shannen’s a tough girl.” Shannen is a fighter and has always been one.
