Papini appeared with her ex-husband Keith Papini in Shasta County Superior Court, last week, to try to work with the judge to give her more time with her two children.Hulu will begin airing its three-part documentary, “The Perfect Wife : The Mysterious Abduction of Sherri Pamini” on Thursday.She was sent to prison after lying to the FBI and defrauding federal authorities, California, Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, and others of over $300,000.

Vanity Fair published a new story on Monday about the series. The article delved again into the six-year saga which led to her arrest. She was arrested for faking a kidnapping, and lying about it to the FBI and government officials to obtain benefits.

Her disappearance sparked a massive search, which fooled many in Redding as well as law enforcement officials and media. The case attracted worldwide attention.

She was discovered 22 days later, on Thanksgiving Day, in chains, along a rural highway near Interstate 5 north of Sacramento. She told law enforcement she had been abducted by two Hispanic woman. She claimed that her captors had beaten her and brandished her.

It turned out to be a hoax. Investigators discovered that she was actually staying at the home of her ex-boyfriend in Orange County during the period she claimed she had been held against will.

Hulu’s news release about the upcoming series claims that it has new material on an old story, which has been reported thousands of times around the globe.

This limited documentary series explores the shocking revelations about a relationship which wasn’t as it appeared. This new “fresh material“, which includes interviews with Keith Papini who speaks about the impact of this ordeal on him and his family. Papini was interviewed again by ABC’s Good Morning America for a segment that aired on Monday. Matt Gutman, the interviewer, asked Papini to explain why he had agreed to work with the Hulu producers.

Keith Papini was shocked to see his wife with bruises and burns in the hospital. He believed she had been abused and kidnapped. He said it was painful for him to discover that his wife had made up the whole story.

“I think that she was planning a fake abduction and wanted me to pretend to be her knight-in-shining armor to run to her. Keith Papini told Good Morning America that in her story, she wanted me to find her.

He said that it would be hard to escape the shadow cast by the faked kidnapping and its aftermath.

I think it will always be there. We want to get past it. “I want to give my children a wonderful childhood, but it will always be there,” said he.

Even Eminem’s latest song “Houdini” contains a reference to Papini. The song is largely based on the Steve Miller Band 1982 hit “Abracadabra.” He mentions Papini a little more than four minutes into the song.
